Dover Coloring Books

American Presidents oloring BookIf you want to supplement your elementary curriculum with coloring pages and can’t find what you’re looking for online, take a moment to look through the catalog of Dover Publications. Dover has printed coloring books for sale featuring subjects ranging from the alphabet to anatomy to wildlife to famous paintings to holidays. And they publish more each year.

Included in the art coloring books section are books featuring designs from around the world, including Arabic, Celtic, Chinese, African, Ancient Egyptian and Aztec designs, and more. There are also books to paint or color. You can choose from animal subjects, flowers and gardens, landscapes — even fairies. You’ll find even more animal pictures in the coloring books about wildlife, including creatures of the Galapagos Islands, the rainforests, the Arctic and Antarctic, and Australia.

There are books throughout the eras in World History and American History; books about pirates, lighthouses, and the sea; books featuring transportation and architecture. Alphabet books for little ones feature sea life, animals, birds, and butterflies (to name a few), while the holiday books cover the major American holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and Valentine’s Day. In many of the different categories, you can also find “stained glass” coloring books that have transparent pages, giving the finished work a stained glass effect when held up to the light.

If you and your students are enjoying unit studies, take a few minutes to look through Dover’s website. You can also find their coloring books in bookstores, as well as at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, Borders.com, and other booksellers online. There are so many different coloring books available; you’re sure to find one that fits in with your curriculum. The fine line drawings and information provided in the books make them well worth the small purchase price.
