I had a lot of fun teaching my son his colors. I taught him by reading books with colorful pictures and naming the colors of objects we saw as we took a walk. After I pointed out an old blue truck on blocks down the street, every truck we saw was old and blue until he understood the meaning of the words that we put together. It was never just an apple but a red, juicy, round apple. The slide was yellow and slippery, the swing was green and squeaky.
When reading books, talking and taking walks together, not only did we have quality time but my son learned the colors of nature and the beauty in words.
